Bamang Tago joins BJP

ITANAGAR, May 18: Bamang Tago, who is currently Chairman of the State Sports Authority, has formally joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) during the executive meeting of the Kurung Kumey District BJP unit at Koloriang on May 17.
Tago was a close ally of former Congress Chief Minister Nabam Tuki and served the state as his political secretary.
Joining the party, Tago assured to work in the interest of the party and development of the state.
With his vast experience in the fields of social service and human rights, the BJP is confident to gain from his joining the party as a primary member, said BJP leader Ngurang Pinch.
Tago earlier had a stint in the Indian National Congress (INC) Party from 1999 to 2003, holding the post of General Secretary of Arunachal Pradesh Youth Congress and Secretary General of North East Youth Congress Coordination Committee respectively, but left the INC due to his differences with the party.
He went on to become a champion of human and civil rights and environmental issues as an activist and filed PIL on infamous PDS scam.
Tago also served as a student leader of the All Nyishi Students Union, All Arunachal Pradesh Students Union, co-founder member of North East Students Organisation, founder member of Arunachal Indigenous Tribes Forum and Chairman of Arunachal Citizens Right.
The event was attended by Minister for PHE&WS and Parliamentary Affairs Bamang Felix and Parliamentary Secretary Home and Education Pani Taram, Advisor of CM Tai Tagak, Chairman, APAMB Ngurang Pinch, and BJP leaders Tadar Deven and Hinium Tachu.
