DC calls for mandatory conduct of Gram Sabhas

Panchayat awareness programme organized

BOMDILA, May 19: Deputy Commissioner Dr. Sonal Swaroop while addressing a first of its kind mass Panchayat awareness cum interaction programme organized here on Friday at Bomdila Auditorium stressed on the need for timely and mandatory conduct of Gram Sabhas.
An initiative of the DC, the programme was attended by all the HODs, ZPMs, ASMs, GPMs and administrative officers of the West Kameng District. She stressed on the need for further strengthening the Panchayat Raj institution in the state. While highlighting the fact that performance grant to the PRIs are directly linked to their performance vis-a vis revenue generation she underlined the importance of exploring all possible avenues of revenue generation at the Panchayat level.
Clarification regarding issuance and renewal of job cards, PEMS launch, importance of opening bank accounts, organic production of agri-horti crops, construction of CC-drain & footsteps technicalities, Aadhar enrolment, making each Gram Panchayat open defecation free etc. were few issues amongst many that were highlighted.
The HODs presented the schemes & works being undertaken by their respective departments. Clarifications were provided to the various queries raised by the members. DIPRO
