Empty health centres and absentee officials in Tezu-Wakro

TEZU, May 18: In a bid to get an accurate picture of the functioning of various health centres in the district, a team of district administration visited several health centres of Tezu and Wakro, and found many employees absent and centres closed.
During these inspections, DC Danish Ashraf checked the attendance of all the staff members and took serious exception to any unauthorized absences. Many staffs were found absent from their place of duty without proper leave application. Most of the health centres were also found running without adequate staff. Moreover, more than half of these health centres were found closed before their official timing.
Taking serious notice of these discrepancies, Ashraf announced that the district administration will soon develop a mobile application to tackle the menace of unauthorized absences.
He said that laxity in maintaining attendance is a serious dereliction of one’s duty and will be dealt with strictly.
The proposed application will also track the attendance of teachers and other staffs in schools.
Earlier, the DC, along with administrative officers had made numerous surprise inspections to schools and had issued show cause notices to erring teachers.
The application will also feature means to track status of Mid Day Meal facilities in schools. It will use GPS location of each teacher, doctors and medical staff to generate a monthly report showing the performance of all the schools and health centres in the district. The Application will be embedded in the already developed “Apna Lohit” Application.
