One arrested on charges of attempt to rape a minor

ITANAGAR/BOLENG, May19: In a case of attempt to rape, one Tapor Tasing was arrested on Thursday by the Arunachal Pradesh Police, Boleng unit for alleged sexual assault of an eight-year-old girl at Riga village.
Police sources from Boleng informed that the accused is a 29 year-old married male, with five children of his own. The incident came to light when Tasing’s daughter, who is also a friend of the victim, told about the incident to the victim’s older brother, who is about 10 years old.
Allegedly, the child was sexually assaulted on several occasions and last on April 23. The family found out only on May 16 when their son informed them. The family filed an FIR against Tasing for attempt to rape at the Boleng Police Station (54kms from Riga) the very next day.
Reportedly, the child was threatened by Tasing not to divulge about the incident to anyone.
Police sources also informed that the alleged accused has admitted to sexually abusing the child on three occasions. However, the child told the police that Tasing had sexually assaulted her twice at her house and thrice at his house.
The alleged accused was brought before the magistrate on Friday and will be kept in police remand for further interrogation. Medical tests of the child have also been conducted and reports are awaited.
The case is under investigation by the Boleng SP and a case has been registered at Boleng Police Station under Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act.
