Public hearing for Itanagar-Banderdewa four lane starts

ITANAGAR, Apr 20: Public hearing pertaining to construction of four lanning of Itanagar-Banderdewa NH-415 from Papu Nallah onwards began at the office of the Highway Administrator cum Chief Estate Officer/ Additional District Magistrate, Talo Potom.
Altogether, 50 people, who received notices attended the first day of the public hearing.
Potom said that despite several evictions made, many people have constructed structures on the Right of Way (ROW) without following laid down rules.
There may have been lapse during land assessment but 15 metres of RoW needs to be maintained at any cost, otherwise the structure would be dismantled, he said.
He appreciated former MLA Kipa Babu, who voluntary came forward as a building owner from Papu Nallah.
Potom also requested the citizens of Capital Complex not to create problems and hurdles during the eviction drive as well as the construction period.
Babu said that eviction may begin from Papu Nallah point and from his building so that everyone may follow.
Few women street vendors complained about losing their businesses if eviction is carried out, but they too assured their cooperation as they said that they also want good roads in the Capital Complex.
Meanwhile, Chief Engineer (Highway) Toli Basar said that the bidding process is almost complete and that the papers will be sent to the Ministry for approval. Basar further said that IIT Guwahati will check the technical aspect for package B and C, the DPR for which needs to be submitted to the Ministry with a minor modification, which includes flyover at Naharlagun Township and Viaduct bridge along the bank of river from Nirjuli to Karsingsa.
IMC Councillor Gora Lotak was also present, among others.
