RGU conducts talk on prospects of social work education

ITANAGAR, Apr 13: The Department of Social Work, Rajiv Gandhi University (RGU) organized a talk on prospects of social work education in Arunachal Pradesh by Visva Bharati University, West Bengal, Head, Department of Social Work, Prof. P K Ghosh at RGU Doimukh on Wednesday.
While addressing the students, Prof. Ghosh discussed in detail about the prospects and challenges of Social Work Education in North East region particularly in Arunachal Pradesh. He spoke at length on his experiences of village reconstruction and professionalizing social work in India. In the context of village reconstruction and social entrepreneurship he emphasized on theory driven practice and thereby building a sustainable development initiative on the patterns of his initiatives of ‘Amar Kutir’ in West Bengal. He further expressed hope that the newly established Department of Social Work of RGU will closely work with government institutions, NGOs and local communities to build a progressive and self sustaining society in Arunachal Pradesh.
