Villagers demand fund for Zirdo-Jime link road, threaten to boycott polls

ZIRDO, May 18: The people of Jime village have appealed to the Chief Minister to sanction fund for construction of rural link road to Jime from Zirdo village immediately.
In a representation to the Chief Minister, Gojum Riba, on behalf of the villagers, also demanded appropriate action against those who were involved in alleged misappropriation of sanctioned fund without carrying out any works on the same road earlier.
Informing about the resolutions passed by the villagers in a meeting held on April 29 last, Riba further informed that the villagers have decided to boycott the forthcoming Panchayat election in 2018 and the General and Assembly elections in 2019 if the demands are not addressed within 10 months.
Jime Village is situated in the eastern most part of Dari circle in West Siang district.
The total length of the Zirdo-Jime road is six km approximately. Jungle clearance and formation cutting of four-km road stretch of Zirdo-Jime road was completed from Jime village end point and start point of Zirdo village. However, two-km of the road stretch remains untouched since 2012-13 and the fund for this rural link road sanctioned earlier was misappropriated, Riba claimed.
